Nintendomax Wii Dev Compo 2011 results

The results for the Nintendomax Wii Dev Compo 2011 where posted several days ago.

Everyone who competed deserves major congratulations.

Last year (and even more recently) I would have said that the Wii homebrew scene had stalled but based on the games from this competition it seems obvious that developers are still progressing. Most noticeably there are a lot more 3D games this year (even if you disregard my entries). The 2D games also seem considerably more polished and professional then what I’ve seen on average in the past.

My game Cherophobe came in fourth place, Hero City was eighth and Cylinder Dodge was last at eleventh place.

I’m not at all surprised that Cylinder Dodge came in last place. But of the three I entered it is still the one that I’m happiest with. Cherophobe wasn’t really intended for this competition and could use some rebalancing. Hero City is fundamentally flawed and even if I finished the things that I had planned it would still be a bad game. But Cylinder Dodge was made quickly and I think it just works really well. I’m always happy with the simple games that that I spend the least amount of time on.

On an unrelated note, I have been even more lethargic lately then my usual self. But I’m going to try and update some things and even make something new some time soon.
