PS3 updates and source code

EDIT: A more recent upload of the source code + PSL1GHT can be found here.

Here are some very small updates. The projection matrix is being properly calculated now so it takes into account the actual aspect ratio and uses the correct FOV resulting in the games looking more like their Wii and Windows counterparts (though some of them still noticeably fall short in other ways). In addition to that the games that previously instructed you to press the A button to start the game now correctly tell you to press the X button. When playing in Neo Tanks you now only shoot when holding the R1 button. There have been some changes made to the ship in Neo Trail and the symbols have been removed from the sides of blocks.

Cherophobe v1.1
Cylinder Dodge v1.1
Gambol v0.3
Hero City v0.6
Neo Tanks v0.3
Neo Trail v0.2

You can download the source code for all of my publicly released PS3 stuff (since I switched to using PSL1GHT and with the exception of Avoidance) here. The last time I uploaded source for my PS3 stuff was before I made Neo Trail and a few other things and anyways the hosting sites I used at the time (fileserve and mulitupload) have effectively shut down so this is the only place to get it right now.

Another two Wii homebrew updates

Neo tanks has been updated to match the more recent PS3 version (so it looks a bit different and you can take control of tanks).

Swingball 2 has newly added music (The Jackals by ara), the menus are now navigated by pointing and clicking on buttons and the level that was remade in the last PS3 release has been updated here to match.

Source code and updates

EDIT: A more recent upload of the source code + PSL1GHT can be found here.

Here are freshly compiled copies of everything I’ve ever released for PS3 since I began using PSL1GHT (with the exclusion of Avoidance which I’m just going to pretend I never ported). Many of them have been updated but mostly in fairly trivial ways. The player turns to face the direction they are moving in Gambol, one of the levels in Swingball 2 has been remade, Goodbye World has been largely rewritten but should look and play the same as before, The Unmapped Forest has an added title screen, etc.

Cascade Beneath v1.1
Cherophobe v1.0
Cylinder Dodge v1.0
Dont Get Crushed v1.2
Gambol v0.2
Goodbye World v1.1
Hero City v0.5
Maze Generator v1.3
Neo Tanks v0.2
Sketch Fight v0.3
Slime Roll v0.3
Swingball 2 v0.4
The Unmapped Forest v0.3
They Do Not Die 2 v0.7
We Are Nowhere v0.2
Winters End v1.0

Perhaps more significantly, I have uploaded the up to date source code for all of it. You can download the archive here or here. It’s worth noting that it is just the source code for my projects. If you want the old copy of PSL1GHT that I’ve been using to compile things then you can get that here.

I’ll be taking a short break now from PS3 homebrew. There are some Wii things I want to work on. I’ll probably/possibly/maybe be done in a couple weeks. Let me know what you would like me to give priority to once I am.

Neo Tanks v0.2 – PS3

Here is a update/port/remake/whatever of Neo Tanks. It was originally made over 9000 years ago for Windows, eventually remade for PS3 with the leaked SDK, later ported as my first 3D Wii release and is now back on PS3 via PSL1GHT.

It’s still pretty much a glorified screen saver and it actually performs worse then it’s first PS3 version made with the leaked SDK and it’s Wii counterpart (rendering polygons on screen seems to be rather slow with PSL1GHT).

PS3 controls:
Left analog stick = Move
Right analog stick = Turn camera
R1 = Shoot

Neo Tanks v0.1 – Wii

Here is a quick Wii port of Neo Tanks. Its a nice little animated graphical demo showing two armies of 3D tanks fighting each other. You can move the camera a bit with the directional pad but its otherwise completely non interactive. Its effectively just a screen saver.

I haven’t really decided what if anything I’m going to do with this. I might update it at some point but I’m not sure if I’ll actually be making a game out of it or not. It will probably just remain a demo.

Sorry for the lack of screenshot but I haven’t yet looked into how to go about recording the rendered screen on Wii to output as a file (the way I was doing it before was dependent on SDL). And without lowering the number of tanks to something pointless it just crashes for me in Dolphin (which is what I used to get the screenshot for the first build of the Wii port of The Untitled Project). But if you’re wondering it looks pretty much exactly the same as it does on PS3 just at a lower resolution.

EDIT: Cid2mizard was kind enough to provide screenshots.

Neo Tanks v0.1 and source code – PS3 & Windows

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyDXZM1uoKs]

Here is an update/remake of that tank thing I posted a few days ago. Now you can take control of a randomly selected tank but its still at this point in time primarily a glorified screensaver. The gameplay is mostly an afterthought.

I want to thank Themaister for pointing out what I was doing wrong yesterday with TGA loading and PuppetMaster for reposting my request for guidance on the psx-scene forum. As a result of your awesomeness I will never need to use those self made toif files ever again.

PS3 Controls:
Move – Left analog stick
Aim – Right analog stick
Shoot – R1

PC Controls:
Move – WASD
Aim – Mouse move
Shoot – Space

Tank demos and source code – Windows

Here is some old stuff I put together ages ago back when I was still using Dark Basic Pro. Haters gonna hate but I still think DBPro is pretty great and fills a nice niche for noobs that want more control then they would get from a drag and drop interface but aren’t ready to learn C++. Although I’ll confess that Unity 3D has become a totally viable if not superior alternative for that. But back on subject I think I may have intended this to become one at some point but its not a game. its just a sort of animation with two AI armies of tanks fighting. The source code for everything is included for anyone that wants it.
