Oh and I’ve updated the version of PlatonicRobot.com that you get access to when you use that v3.0 home menu. You can finally vote in polls (as long as you have an account) and you can read and post comments in the homebrew database (there is a page for each of my homebrew projects). So click that network button in the bottom right corner of the home menu and go discuss and vote on some junk. The actual site (the version you get when you visit it with a regular web browser) has gotten a few small updates tonight too.

What is NOT included in the pack (AKA my updated to do list):

32 included and 22 excluded adding up to a total of 55 Wii homebrew projects. I have a tendency to start random things and then quickly abandon them when I lose interest. But I’m going to try and stick to these 55 projects.

The Catachthonic v0.95 – Wii

Here is an update version of The Catachthonic for Wii. It now has lighting and the ability to remove blocks while they are falling (just like the PS3 version) and I’ve removed the dirt from above you and made some optimizations that should improve performance. I don’t remember what it was running at on average in the last release but when there there aren’t any blocks being added/removed/repositioned it runs at a smooth 60 frames per second even after the world has become fairly complex.

Wii controls:
Analog stick = Move
IR pointer = Aim
C = Jump
B = Action
Left and Right = Change action
A = Change view

The Catachthonic v0.95 – PS3

So I’ve fixed the bug that caused The Catachthonic to crash in certain situations on PS3 and re wrote some other things.

I’ve added on screen text informing you of what kind of ability you have selected, you can now destroy blocks while they are falling, now you can reset everything without needing to exit the game and I also made some changes to the controls.

PS3 controls:
Left analog stick = Move
Right analog stick = Aim
L1 = Switch between first and third person view
R1 = Perform an action
Directional pad = Change what action you will perform
Select = reset the world

P.S. if you if you enjoyed this piece of homebrew then you can show your appreciation by liking it and voting for it in this months psx-scene contest. You can do the same with the previous version.

The Catachthonic v0.9 – PS3

Here is the first PS3 release of The Catachthonic (a 3D first/third person game/toy with an interactive environment and a verity of random abilities).

Use the left analog stick to move, right analog stick to aim, X to jump, Circle to switch from first and third person view, Square to perform an action (like raising the ground, spawning a block, spawning a person to follow you, turning on or off slow motion, etc), and use the left and right buttons to change what action you will be performing.

Wii homebrew reuploads

You’ve probably noticed that a LOT of the links around here have died. To rectify that I’ve begun uploading all of my stuff to PlatonicRobot. You can now go there to find the most recent versions of everything I’ve ever released for Wii.

The Catachthonic v0.9 – Wii & Windows

Remember that thing I was making (Something/TempName/TheClosedSystem)? It was 3D, had third and first person view modes and an editable environment? Well I have decided the final title will be The Catachthonic.

I’ve added some more things you can do. You can go into slow motion now. You can also spawn enemies that look just like you and follow you around.

I’ve added dirt above you (I’ve decided that the game will take place underground but for performance reasons I may actually remove this later or make it an optional cosmetic thing exclusive to the Windows version).

There are more things you can enable or disable now in the Windows version by editing the settings.ini file.

I’m pretty sure there are other things but I’m not sure what was done before and what was done after the previous release.

Windows controls:
WASD = Move
Mouse = Aim
Space = Jump
Left mouse button = Action
Q and E = Change action
Right mouse button = Change view

Wii controls:
Analog stick = Move
IR pointer = Aim
C = Jump
B = Action
Left and Right = Change action
A = Change view

Something v0.000003 – Wii & Windows

Here is yet another update to that still nameless thing I’ve been posting for roughly a week now. There are a lot of small changes. Blocks are solid now even when falling, the way legs rotate has improved, now you aim where the cursor is pointing instead of where the center of the screen is pointing, I removed the spheres that followed you, there are more things you can change by editing the settings file, etc. Mostly it’s just polish and optimization.

There is also a Wii version now.

I think I’ve figured out now what I’m actually going to make this game into.

Windows controls:
WASD = Move
Mouse = Aim
Space = Jump
Left mouse button = Action
Q and E = Change action
Right mouse button = Change view

Wii controls:
Analog stick = Move
IR pointer = Aim
C = Jump
B = Action
Left and Right = Change action
A = Change view

Something v0.000002 – Windows

Here is an update of that thing I posted a few days ago. Now the world loops infinitely, blocks are subjected to gravity, there are spheres that follow you around and there are a handful of other additions and changes.

I’m not going to post it yet because it’s far from being playable but I’ve started a Wii port. I wasn’t really making this with Wii in mind and the performance is pretty terrible but it’s better then I expected.

Windows controls:
WASD = Move
Mouse = Aim
Space = Jump
Left mouse button = Action
Q and E = Change action
Right mouse button = First person view

Something v0.000001 – Windows

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voIPwr_HR3o]

Here is something random, small and hardly functional that I’ve been toying with. It bares little resemblance to what I had originally set out to make but does feature a few things that I’m fond of.

It’s a 3D third person platformer with the ability to switch to a first person view. Along with walking and jumping around you can also raise and lower the ground, place and remove solid blocks, shoot spheres that stick to the walls and swing from anything. The player character’s animation is procedural but also incredibly incomplete and flawed. There is animated water.

Windows controls:
WASD = Move
Mouse = Aim
Space = Jump
Left mouse button = Action
Q and E = Change action
Right mouse button = First person view
